Indefinable Khaos Metal!
"A mix of industrialized black/death metal, laden with technical guitar work, tumultuous electronic surroundings accompanied by agonized and tortured vocal arrangements".
That is what this band self proclaims and delivers quite well! This debut album from DP was released this year (2005) by Australian label Asphyxiate Recordings, but before i continue on with the review, it should be made clear this band features some prominent members of the dutch black metal scene, such as Fluisterwoud and Sauron. So you know you will expect nothing short of brilliance...
Ok, back into it...this album begins with a somewhat trance enducing intro and jumps straight into the first song rather unexpected...with no holding back, DP blasts the listener with an abrupt wall of technical song structures and (bruta!l) heaviness, The percussion skill from the skin beater is assounding. Fast, precise and very unique, it amazes me he can keep up with the tempo and song structures. Ultra fast double kicking, agonized vocals, cobmined with the cosmic elements and programming skills of Mot, not overpowering at all, but its presence is well put forth and portrays their intentions of a futuristic/ cosmic atmosphere.
Its safe to say not many bands at all deal with keyboards and programming well, its either way over done and corny or just so underdone it was pointless to even fill that vacant 'keyboards' member position in the first place. This is one of those few who perfectly combines industrial metal with synthetics and black metal! A superb release.
You can download an mp3 from the releasing labels website which is how i got onto this fucking great band...
